Michelle Hartman has had a career that she
herself is sometimes amazed by.
An English drama school grad and
professional dancer at 17, a model and
actress in her 20’s and professional makeup
artist for years, Hartman has had no trouble
moving back and forth from one occupation
to the other.
“I’t all been good” says the soft-spoken and glamourous
Hartman. “ I’ve done so many things, and I’ve enjoyed them
so much.” Michelle has had roles in English farce and
television shows such as the Carry on series, Doctor in the
House and the Avengers, and danced professionally on stage
in London, Monaco, Tokyo and the Lido in Paris.
In canada she has acted in theatrical productions in Victoria
and was in a movie with Don Johnson in Calgary. Along the
way, she also became interested in the magic and
complexities of cosmetics. She’s been a professional makeup
artist and product representative for top cosmetics firms
such as , Christion Dior, Lancome and Guerlain working in
England and Canada.
Michelle was one of just two cosmetic experts to represent
Christian Dior in Shanghai and Beijing, China.
Michelle Hartman’s residence in Canada began years ago
with a visit to Calgary with husband Durk. Later the pair
spend a decade in Victoria. From Victoria, the couple felt a
pull towards the Okanagan and settled in West bank a year
“I love to do events, as well as private consultations,” says
Michelle. “It is so satisfying - almost thrilling - to do a
person’s makeup, then have them look in the mirror and be
amazed at how terrific they look.
Michelle will do makeup consultation and hands-on
application for weddings and other special occasions, private
makeovers, post-surgery makeup and makeup for television
or stage. Hartman has brought yet another kind of expertise
to the Kelowna area and plans to offer her services to a wide
variety of clients who are using cosmetics many different
ways. “I’m looking forward to it” Hartman says. “We’ve lived
in quite a few parts of the world and for now I feel very
comfortable here in the Okanagan.”
